FOSTER NEEDED Immediately!

Huckleberry Nation! You all have helped us so much lately financially, and we greatly appreciate everyone that has donated to our cause, as well as a huge thanks to McLarty Daniel Automotive for stepping in and doing their own fundraiser for us. We, however: are only just getting started.
Here is more of the story. Recently we were able to bring in a few more dogs/puppies. We have been blessed with some fantastic networking to move some dogs/puppies to Kansas City, Colorado and most recently to California. Thanks to some amazing Arkansas businesses , Highland Pet Company in Bella Vista, Earth Wise Pet Supply in Bentonville,  Spay Arkansas, Pet Supply Plus in Rogers and Orscheln’s in Jane MO., for not only helping with adoption events but for their huge support during these events, we would be lost without any of you!
Currently we have very few foster homes available to us; we have 6 to be exact handling roughly 35 dogs. Once again, we have to turn to you, our Huckleberry Nation, all our followers for help. We need places to temporarily home these abandoned and neglected dog/puppies.
 WHY FOSTER?

You help us learn about the dog's personality;
You help socialize the dog in a loving home;
Fostering lets you enjoy a dog's companionship without long-term commitment;
You help a dog overcome the stress of being abandoned at a shelter;
BEST OF ALL?
YOU SAVE A LIFE.

In the last 48 hours we have received request for help with 15 dogs/puppies, we need to turn down a life, now just to let you know all rescues and shelters are full to capacity this time of year. With that said do you see the problem? We are trying to help some of the biggest areas of puppy mills and/or the biggest area for lack of rural county ordinances for Spay and Neuter programs. We need your help, we need temporary housing for dogs and puppies, and we also need your voices to be the voice of the animals in your specific county.
What does fostering cost me?
Food & Supplies provided
Vet Bills Paid

That’s correct! It cost you nothing other than your time, your love and a safe home for the animal.
It’s not easy, if’s hard letting go, it’s heartbreaking when they first leave but you’re giving them a greater chance to be a great dog for their forever homes. Foster failure is a real thing. What is foster failure you ask? It’s when you foster and realize you simply can’t live without them.
You can find a foster application on our website at www.huckleberryrescue.com look under the tab FORMS. Simply download and fill out, return it to us via email at huckleberryrescue@gmail.com and we’ll gladly get you started.

On July 31st we made a plea, "The Cost of a life", asking for help. We were simply out of funds.  On August 2nd and August 3rd, McLarty Daniel Automotive stepped up with an all hands on deck, fundraiser for us. They would give us $25 per car sold these 2 days up-to $1000.  Today McLarty Daniel Automotive presented us with a check for $1000!!!!  Thank you McLarty Daniel Automotive for your dedication to your community, and to our organization. We look forward to future endeavours into this partnership.
McLarty Daniel Automotive is a family of car dealerships located in Bentonville, Arkansas.

if you find a lost animal

  1. Capture and contain it with care. If you see a stray cat or dog, try to capture and contain the animal if circumstances permit. ... do not try chasing the animal, it's already scared
  2. Call the authorities. ... police, animal control(if available in your area)
  3. Check for ID. ... tags, look on the inside of the collar to check for any information that may be written.
  4. Get the pet scanned for a microchip. ... this can be done free from any veterinarian or shelter
  5. Take pets with no ID to an animal shelter. ... (be sure to call them in advance, make sure they have space)
  6. Post fliers.
This is the perfect example of what to do.  This fellow was found in Lanagan on 08/06/19.  He had no collar.  His rescuer called and stated he found a stray or lost dog.  He then took the dog to the vet to be checked for a microchip.  The dog's owner thankfully had microchipped this fellow, come to find out  the dog had been stolen over a year ago.  Happy ending, the dog was returned to his rightful owner!

What Fostering looks like

Being a foster is no easy task.  You are the NEW introduction to humanity, in most cases, for the dogs/puppies that come in.  They have usually been let down by humans and have no trust.  You need to build them back up, let them actually be a dog, be a pet, and be a family member.  These pictures are an example. This is Simba, the first 3 pictures are the day he came to us.  He was still a happy little fellow, but look at those last 3 pictures, so much more confidence and you see that silly personality coming through.  Yes, I can't lie, fostering is hard, it breaks your heart, it's hard to let them go but the reward is such an incredible experience.  Please consider becoming a foster.
